Eminem, an American rapper, collaborated with Dido, a British vocalist, on the song “Stan.” The Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem’s third studio album, contained it. It was made available as the third single on November 21, 2000. Twelve nations, including the UK, Germany, Ireland, and Australia, ranked it first. The first few lines of Dido’s song “Thank You” were remixed for the lyrics. Both songs were released as singles in late 2000; the 45 King-produced track also contains a slightly altered break from “Thank You” as its foundation sample. “Stan” is regarded as one of Eminem’s signature songs and has been hailed as one of his best tracks. “Stan” was voted #296 by Rolling Stone magazine among the 500 greatest songs ever. The song was also included in the 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll list of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and ranked #15 on VH1’s list of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time. The song was nominated for numerous categories, such as Best Song at the MTV Europe Music categories, Video of the Year, Best Rap Video, Best Direction, and Best Cinematography at the MTV Video Music Awards, however at the MuchMusic Video Awards, it only took home the trophy for Best International Artist Video. “Stan” was ranked #2 on Complex magazine’s list of the top 100 Eminem tracks in April 2011.
